Mr. Paez has tried over 25 jury trials as both a former prosecutor and public defender. He attended the University of Miami School of Law on a scholarship, graduating in 2020. After law school, he joined the Broward Public Defender’s Office, where he represented clients charged with misdemeanors and quickly advanced to handling first-degree felonies, including Capital Sexual Battery and Attempted First Degree Murder. In this role, he also supervised other lawyers.

After two years as a Public Defender, Mr. Paez transitioned to the Broward State Attorney’s Office to gain insight into prosecutorial strategies. There, he prosecuted hundreds of cases, such as Attempted First Degree Murder and Armed Robbery, while training new prosecutors on case building and courtroom presentation.

A native Spanish speaker, Mr. Paez is a three-time published author for the Broward Bar’s Barrister magazine. He served as one of four members on the Executive Board of the Broward Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and received the 2021 Hat Trick Award for three consecutive not-guilty verdicts.
